Painting With Light In Macro Photography

The orchid was lit from the side with a softbox and there was a silver reflector behind as he background, the reflector was placed outside the path of the light to avoid creating a big wash from the back. (Sometimes you have to work with what you have, and I did not have another background to work with.) Additional light was added to the flower in the image above by shining a small LED flashlight onto it during the exposure. A bit of light painting even whilst including flash. Always consider options in your photography, you may surprise yourself with what is available to you!
